A Ribbon Cutting was held Thursday, December 18, 2008 for the new Pediatric Floor at Magnolia Regional Health Center. The new pediatric unit is located on the 3rd floor, newly remodeled and very child friendly to help bring comfort.

A Ribbon Cutting and Open House was held July 31, 2008,hosted by Dr. Tommy Sweat and the Internal Medicine Residents, for Magnolia Regional Community Care Clinic and Magional Medical Clinic. The new clinics are located at 101 S. Harper Road.

The Alliance and The Mississippi Corridor Consortium partnered to sponsor a Japanese Business Culture Seminar which was held at the Northeast Campus in Corinth located on Harper Road. 

The well attended Seminar offered techniques on bowing, handshaking, business card exchange, seating and gift giving protocols. The class was also taught some basic Japanese greetings and phrases. This was a class that actually did some hands on learning. The fabulous meal included several styles of Sushi, Miso Soup, Spring Rolls, Chicken Fried Rice and Tapanyaki Steak Udon, Sweet Biscuits, and green tea ice cream.

The Corinth Area Convention and Visitors Bureau held a Ribbon Cutting and Open House Thursday, May 15, 2008 in conjunction with National Tourism Week. Kristy White, Tourism Director, and staff showed off their new building located at 215 Fillmore Street in front of The Crossroads Museum.

The Jr. Leadership Alcorn 2008 Graduation Banquet was May 13, 2008. There were 31 students from Kossuth, Biggersville, Alcorn Central, and Corinth High School. The students parents were in attendance along with members of the Community Development Council, elected officials, and some volunteers. The students presented completed projects for The Lighthouse Foundation, United Way, Project Attention, and Pine Vale Children's Home.

The Annual Corinth-Alcorn County Existing Industry Appreciation Luncheon was held on Friday, May 11th. Dr. Robert H. Foglesong, President of Mississippi State University, was the guest speaker. He spoke to our community and industry leaders about working together to achieve success.
