Tourism Industry The tourism industry in Corinth and Alcorn County is a growing enterprise. A National Park Service Civil War Interpretive Center opened in our community in July 2004. This heralds the beginning of a major national attraction in our city and county. This state of the art multimedia attraction has been outlined in National Geographic and many regional and national magazines. Tied to this is the renovation of our downtown train depot. The Depot will house an upgraded Northeast Mississippi Museum. Our downtown area, in close proximity to both these attractions has benefited greatly. Both a National Register and State Historic District it embodies classical Italianate architecture. Shiloh National Military Park and Pickwick Reservoir with multitudes of related attractions all enhance the visitor experience. Shops, restaurants, a park, apartments, and professional offices make the Corinth downtown a tourist attraction in and of itself. Accommodations, food services, entertainment, cultural and recreational facilities, and the renovation of buildings all have possibilities for new and expanded business. An available workforce with access to expanded training opportunities offers entrepreneur exciting economic development opportunities.
